Thanksgiving Week

There will be a guest teacher in my room during Thanksgiving week.  He will follow my Inclusion students, as is usual.
The plan for study hall is for the students to continue to work on their assignments.  The guest teacher has a list of the students and their classes, so he can make suggestions if they forget what work they have to complete.
In English, they will continue to work in the Anthology they used the last time we had a guest teacher.  Emphasis will be on increasing vocabulary and practicing comprehension skills.
In History, the students will move on to the next chapter, The World at War, which teaches the major concepts of WWI.  There will be a reading guide to complete, as well as questions to consider.
Then, "Yeah!  Turkey Day!"  Enjoy your family.

U.S. History

We are about to complete a unit on America's growth during the Spanish American War.  Students will learn how the U.S. acquired Puerto Rico, Guam and Phillipines, as well as how they regained some of their independence.  We will also learn about the acquisition and statehood of Hawaii.

We have just corrected the Reading Guide they have had for several days.  They will have some worksheets to complete their learning, then a test.

English

In English we are starting a writing unit on argumentative writing.  We still do journals daily and are making good progress in both Grammar and Vocabulary.  Ask your student about antonyms!

U.S. History

We are beginning Chapter 17, The Spanish American War.  We will be discussing how the U.S. came to own the Phillipines, Guam and Puerto Rico, as well as how Hawaii came to be part of the U.S.
